The Delhi Police on Wednesday, March 29, detained several women students of Delhi University’s Indraprastha College for Women. The students were protesting outside the college gate against the alleged harassment during the college’s ‘Festival Shurti’ fest on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Earlier on Tuesday, students from DU’S Indraprastha College for Women claimed that several men scaled the boundary walls of the college and harassed students at the campus, as reported by news agency PTI. The incident took place during the IPCW’s college fest ‘Festival Shurti.’
The women students also alleged that the men chanted slogans like “Miranda, IP dono hamara (Miranda House and Indraprastha College both are ours)” and “Miranda nahi chhoda to IP bhi nahi chhodenge (We didn’t leave Miranda, we won’t leave IP either)”.

However, later in the night, DCP North Sagar Singh Kalsi said that seven students were detained and some of them were injured following an excessive gathering of students at the IPCW’s ‘Festival Shurti” fest, where singer Asees Kaur was supposed to perform. The DCP added that further arrests will be made based on footage, and the matter is under investigation.
While sharing purported images and videos of the incident, Former Indraprastha College of Women student and AISA’s (All India Students Association) Delhi University unit secretary, Anjali, said that Today, IPCW’s fest was going when drunk men climbed the walls, forcefully entered the campus and harrassed Gender minorities. Men were chanting “Miranda IP dono hamara” ,”Miranda nahi chhoda to IP bhi nahi chhodenge”
“The administration in response to this locked hostelers instead of taking action against these lumpens! Similar incidents took place in DRC, Miranda, Gargi. The question is what has Delhi police been doing? Arrest these goons! Stop policing, locking women! Reclaim IPCW!,” Anjali added in another tweet.
